 Realiving the Mind

Undine stood by a lake, she glanced at the large glowing crystal that hung at her side, she patted it then looked at the river, she smiled. Her eyes glanced up at the darkening clouds and she summoned a human bird to her side, the bird nodded his head and flew up into the sky, she sat down. Minutes later, the bird returned and looked at her, she nodded and the crystal lit up, moments later the bird disappeared and she was alone. She splashed the water on her face and looked at the water, her reflection seemed to disappear as she closed her eyes.

Adara's shoes padded noiselessly on the lush greenery that surrounded her. In her opinion, Athuil was the most beautiful of all the lands in the realm she'd been to. Her pale brows dipped slightly. She had, after all, been to but three of the continents in the land.

Yet...

Athuil spurred feelings of awe very unlike Kez and Chenu, which did impress her but hadn't quite awed her. A flurry of movement behind her made her whirl around. She had heard tales of men venturing into Athuil and never being able to return home and she felt she had to keep herself alert. The Elves guarded their secrets jealously. She certainly hadn't any Elven blood and intruded in their territory.

She wasn't staying long... But what then if they chose to detain her? She'd fail her father... Adara caught her lower lip between her teeth as she came upon a small river. Across her was a young woman. She knew her movements were quiet but would the woman know immediately she was there?

As Adara came closer, the large stone glowed brighter, a small butterfly, called a Lupan butterfly, flew up and past Adara's head, Undines eyes did not open, but her rude words would let anyone know she was not one to bug, though she wasn't bugged by the lady's presense, "What?" She hissed, lowering her head.

A small butterfly fluttered passed her. She smiled slightly, knowing the lady did know she was within her surroundings. Adara halted at the river's edge, undeterred by the woman's tone. "Forgive me, my lady, if I have disturbed you. I was merely passing through the forest." She curtsied, fully aware that it might appear strange. She was, after all, in boy's clothes.

Undine's face rose to look at Adara, then her eyes opened, the color, however, was hidden by the shadow that loomed over her face caused by the hood, "Oh sorry, I thought you were a child a moment, the Lupans usaully only come out for a demon or a child. Same thing really." She said, then smirked slightly.

Adara's brows lifted in surprise. Demons? Children? She was neither but why would a Lupan butterfly then show itself? "Odd..." She murmured, entirely baffled at the prospect of seeing the butterfly around her.

The Lupan returned to Undine, and she stood slowly, the stone glowed for a moment, then calmed, only lighting every few moments, she had her hands on a small deck of cards, placed on top of the stone. A small rat like demon appeared beside Undine, it squeked, Undine smiled and patted it's head, it began hopping around, sometimes small branches and twigs it hit burned to the ground.
