Your Character
[/center][/u]Name: Adara Pravi
Nickname(s): Addie, Ada
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Race/Class: She thinks she’s a commoner but is actually a Guardian
Residence: Chenu (but she does like to travel)
Occupation: Overseer and defender of the realm (though she doesn’t know it yet)
Appearance:
Locks of silvery hue adorn Adara’s head, stopping at a length well past her shoulders and causing her deep amethystine eyes to be a more prominent feature of her face. Her hair, whatever color it may be in, is either left free of constraints and framing her heart-shaped face or tucked into a hat identical to her brother’s. Adara’s eyes are especially expressive; almost always flashing with whatever emotion she’s feeling. Sitting atop those brightly-colored orbs and framed by long, dark-hued lashes are two narrow but delicately arched brows that match the color of her hair.
Her skin is a fair shade of ivory that and makes for her raised cheeks to contain a rosy tint. Found beneath a considerably straight nose is a pair of cherry-tinged lips that can intensify the wide array of expressions that can be held within her transparent gaze; from a smile that pronounces her cheekbones, dimples and slightly pointed chin better to a rare and furious glare that darkens her usually luminous gaze.
Adara stands at five feet and five inches with a slender frame, a bit on the thin side but not at all skin-and-bones. Frail, she may seem to be; but she’s light-footed and has considerably quick reflexes. She walks with a smooth and usually silent gait, very capable of sneaking up behind someone’s back or into a room without drawing much attention; a gift and a curse at times.
When choosing her clothing, Adara is not the most attentive person the realm has seen though she has a rather keen eye for details. As her identity as a Guardian is a well-guarded secret, it is well that her style of dressing isn’t as exuberant as to attract unnecessary attention. She dresses as a commoner would and could even dress like her brother when she has to.
Personality:
Adara usually has a reserved disposition and would rather keep to herself. She’d most probably be found curled up with a book or exploring her surroundings, maybe even out on a serene spot doing some daydreaming. When meeting new people, Adara puts up a shield of introversion. As soon as she gets used to your presence, she’d drop the shield gradually. If you ask for it, she accommodates you to the extent of her capabilities and offers you her help and generosity. She would even go as far as willingly fighting your fight if you ask her to. Just be careful not to dare and abuse her bigheartedness. She doesn’t let anybody push her around.
While she may be patient, tolerant and for the most part self-controlled, her fury isn’t a force to be reckoned with. Breaking and hurling things isn’t uncommon for an infuriated Adara. A threat with a particularly nasty spell may even be used but she rarely does fulfill the threat except if she really is enraged. She’s also a bit too sensitive and temperamental at times and tends to take things too seriously. She has an inclination to snap at people who try to talk to her if she's mad or frustrated or she takes out her anger on somebody or something severely.
Nonetheless, if you get to know her more intimately or get on her good side, she can be very open and easygoing. She's greatly respectful toward her elders but she knows when to speak up if she was offended, when she knows she's right and if she needs to fight for what she believes in. It doesn't take much to make her smile or laugh. She could even laugh at well-worn jokes. She's open-minded, inquisitive and trusting. She's sharp-witted but is sensitive about the things that exit her mouth. And she may speak her mind openly but she isn't judgmental about other people. She also has a very good memory. She may forgive you without keeping hold of a grudge against you, but she certainly doesn't forget if you did her a great deal of wrong. She's also a good listener and could lend a sympathetic shoulder to lean on.
History:
Adara Wynne Celeste Pravi was born eleven minutes after Adair James Theodore Pravi on a crisp night on the third month of the Nezhrym year to Thomas and Nerine Pravi, who was the eighteenth Guardian of the realm. Nerine knew her children were destined to be great from the moment they were born. The resemblance between the children was uncanny despite their being of opposite sexes. Growing up, the two had always shared a special bond. Developing telepathic abilities, which enabled them to communicate secretly, at the age of six just added to the closeness they had. Adara was just as protective of her brother as he was of her.
Adara was the quiet one though she loved adventure as much as Adair did. They lived in a house located at the edge of a town in Chenu and the forest at the back of their house was the perfect playground any child could have asked for. She preferred reading to playing games with the village children though. In-between playtimes, Adara and her brother received lessons from both their parents, magic lessons from their mother and the handling of various weapons and the art of fighting from their father. Early on and although they couldn’t quite control it yet, they’d learned to utilize their abilities.
The twins were only ten. Their home was attacked by Dunmhars. It was their first encounter with the said creatures and it was not a pleasant one. The family was taken by surprise. All Adara saw was a particularly large body in front of her and then everything went black. She woke up to find their beautiful home in ruins and ashes, her unconscious father and a severely injured brother. They moved to a new home immediately after the incident; a home which was of considerable distance from their old one. Adara came home from school everyday with the hope that her mother was somehow coming back to them. When she was fifteen, she stopped hoping. A telegram found its way to them, informing them that Nerine had died two years ago.
Catastrophes struck Nezhrym when the twins were sixteen but it was belittled compared to the tradgedy that struck home. Apparently not satisfied with their preliminary attack, the Dunmhars attacked the Pravi household once again. The twins were older and more adept at wielding weapons than they were when they were at ten, they could very well have defeated the small horde of Dunmhars. The problem was, they weren’t home; they were out exploring. Adara regretted ever going out that day. She, in fact, had a feeling of doom nagging at her thoughts but she’d pushed it aside. She’d had previous bouts as such. Nothing, however, that grave had ever happened before. At the sight of black smoke smearing the darkening skies, Adara knew something had gone terribly wrong. She and her brother rushed home only to find it in practically the same condition as their old home was.
“Seek the Guardians.” That was her father’s last request, the words that had died on his lips. As Nerine and Thomas had never revealed Nerine’s identity to their children, the twins had no clue that they were the said Guardians. The only thing they knew that was related to the Guardian was a song that their mother taught them when they were little. Off they were on a journey that they themselves knew not where it would ultimately lead them to.
Role-play Sample:
“Bend your arms more.” Adara instructed little Benjamin. “Do you see that tree there? Focus your sight on it and bring your sword down toward it.” She pointed at a tree nearby.
Adara watched as Benjamin struggle with the sword. Her heart wrenched. He was a boy of seven. Adara felt anger rising in her body as she clenched her fist. ‘Children should never have this burden.’ She let her head hang. ‘Cheer up, little sister. There wasn’t anything else you could have done.’ Her brother lifted her chin up by magic. She saw him holding his palm up toward her with an affectionate look in his eyes. Smiling her gratitude at him, she asked, ‘Why do you call me that?’. ‘Are you not?’ Her brother smiled a sideways smile. ‘Eight minutes isn’t at all lengthy a time, you know.’ She retorted. ‘It makes all the difference though.’ Her brother’s smile blossomed into a grin that mirrored hers.
“Addie, I’m tired.” Benjamin tugged at her clothing. “Would you like to eat then? Or have some water?” Adara bent and steadied her gaze against the boy’s. “I’d like some bread.” He responded. “I think we have some of that.” Adara caught the boy’s hand and began to lead him to the camp. “After eating, I’ll let you hold Duil. How would you like that?” She smiled gently when the pair of dark brown eyes lit up.
